After 14 years – Luna is leaving Richmond – the grunge – the heart of knitwear manufacture Melbourne.
When we first arrived in 2001, the Slade Knitwear sign was still lit up and Cremorne was this unknown nook of creativity and mystery. So many amazing urban makers, young architects, artists, film makers, graphic designers … motor mechanics, printers, KNITWEAR manufacturers, quirky cafe’s, the Cherry Tree Hotel, some tree’s and great neighbours. From our balcony we had superb views to the City, the Botanical Gardens, across the river to South Yarra, the Nylex Sign, Slade Knitwear, the asbestos, the concrete and the urban skyline – bats and all.
So as the high rise takes over – the Queen of Cremorne departs.
